"Piaf,
Chevalier, Brel"
"Stand
up and Salute - Peters had such a full house for Tonia Bern-Campbell's show
Saturday night that they filled both the inner room and atrium area, with more
standing at the bar.
In fact, her musical
salutes to Edith
Piaf, Maurice
Chevalier, and Jacques
Brel (a fellow Belgian) was so well received, it has been booked again for
two shows in Feb. 2006. Reserve early.
Bern-Campbell provided
a charming cabaret show with personal anecdotes about all three international
stars, then punctuated them with the appropriate humor, pathos, and love. She
doesn't just sing their signature tunes, she represents them with grace, charm,
respect, a powerful voice and a touch of musical history.
Ably accompanying
her on piano and in a couple of vocals was her musical director, Richard Berent.
Irwin Rubinsky produced." (Review by Gary Walker, THE DESERT SUN, Nov. 23,
2005, Rancho Mirage, CA.)

Tonia Bern
Campbell is a dazzling entertainer who doesn't just reprise the repertoires
of the famous Gallic trio in her inspired musical tribute, Tonia inhabits each
piece of material.
The statuesque and svelte Belgian born blonde sings several decades of performing
as she exudes timeless appeal. Her high energy hour long show inspired a well-earned
standing ovation from the packed house of admirers clamoring for even "more".
Don't miss a note of la belle Campbell's next appearance.

"Colors
of My Life"
"Campbell
put her audience through a range of emotions from euphoric to a sense of well-being
they didn't have before she started singing"...
She called her
act "Colors of My Life," which is about everybody's life which takes
on different shades at various stages. "It is also about my own, which has
been an exciting rainbow; dramatic and sad, spectacular and exciting, romantic
and amusing, but never dull, and continuing magnificently." Through her music
she sang, "ignore the downs, and concentrate on the ups." From "Birdcage,"
or "Le Cage," she sang, "The Best of Times Are Now." At this
point the audience began to keep time by stamping their feet and hands. Her personality
was infectious. Truly, she was a singer that acts. In each of her renditions,
her voice was pure and moving. One could feel that she told her story of love
and life with verve and emotion. "Here's to Life," "What I Did
For Love," and then into the audience with "I Love You Very Much."...
(From The Desert Sun, Palm Springs, CA. January 2003, "Sun Lakes Friendship
Club Welcomes Campbell", by Larry Liebers).
"Midnight
in London. And a bluebird finds happiness. She settles down on a suitable perch
and, so obviously at home in her surroundings, sings of love, joy, and laughter."
(From Daily Express, London England, "Bluebird of Happiness Comes Back to
Town")
"As one columnist
put it: "When she rocks, the lovely hair flies and the hall jumps. When she's
still, the house is instantly hushed." Perhaps the perfect comment on a perfect
performance, "She cannot be compared with anyone." (The London Times,
"Tonia's Recipe is Brilliant")
"Romance
on the Menu"
"The audience
responded with standing ovations and the evening's performance concluded with
Tonia's powerful, treatment of Jacques Brels, "If We Only Have Love,"
in remembrance of September 11"...(From the Mountain News & Crestline
Courier-News, Lake Arrowhead, CA. 2002 - "An Evening of Song", by Maria
Pangrazio).
"The Last
Time I Saw Paris"
"The audience's
enthusiasm was not misspent, for with each number and every nostalgic anecdote,
her performance grew more exciting. She was accompanied by her musical director,
John Sawoski, and her guitarist, Chet Smith...I would be remiss if I didn't point
out that she went down into the audience and danced with a few lucky men in the
front. There was a sense of loss when she waved good-bye. She received a standing
ovation and, as a finale, her tiny Shiatsu came padding out to be scolded facetiously
and swept up into her loving arms"... (From Sun Lakes Life, December 2002,
"Lady Tonia Bern-Campbell Sizzles", by Larry & Anne Liebers).
